Approaching Your Assignment

Welcome to the LibGuide for Professor Gary's ENGWR 300 class.  This guide will help you with library research for your essays.

Use the tabs at the left to navigate the resources.

How the library can help

If you are on campus, you can talk to a librarian at the Research Help Desk on the 2nd floor of the Learning Resource Center. The SCC Library is open Monday through Thursday 8am to 8pm, Friday 8am to 4pm, and Saturday 9am to 3pm.

You can also reach a librarian via the yellow Ask a Librarian widget found on all of the library pages. If you use chat during "regular" business hours (8 am to 8 pm Mon-Th, 8am to 4pm on Fridays and 10am to 3pm on Saturdays), you will connect with a Los Rios District librarian.  Any other time 24/7, you will reach a librarian in our global network who is available to help our SCC students.  If you're up late at night, there's a good chance you'll get a librarian in the UK.

This guide will lead you to resources within our library.  You will be able to use our databases at any time of the day or night.  By using the SCC databases, you have the opportunity to have your work cited for you in the MLA format that is required for this class.

You can pretty much trust the resources provided to you on our site.  I have also added a guide for effectively searching the internet for credible sources using Google and how to evaluate if a source is, indeed, reliable.
