150 Points Each Group Member
During the first week of the semester, your instructor will assign you to a group of four people so that you can work collaboratively on this literature review project throughout the semester and finish it by 11:59 PM on Sunday, November 1. You will receive an email from your instructor letting you know which group you are assigned to during the first week of the semester. Once you receive the email, please work with your group through the Collaborations function in Canvas to follow the instructions below:
There are three parts to this small group assignment:
- Meet with your group through the Collaborations function in Canvas to choose and design your project.
- Divide the topic your group chooses into manageable pieces, one piece for each group member. Each group member will be responsible for completing their piece of research on your group's topic.
- Each group member will be graded individually for their part of the group's multimedia presentation.
Here are some suggestions for how to structure your group's project. You can choose any one of these suggestions or create your own way of structuring your project:
- Conduct a literature review of a psychological topic that is of interest to your group.
- Your group should choose at least five sources of information: One must be your textbook. Two sources of information may be books, articles that you have found in the library databases, or other online sources . You must use your textbook to anchor your research and use your remaining references as supplements. This ensures that the information you gather regarding your topic is based on sound research.
- After gathering your sources of information, read them to inform yourself of the research that has been done on your topic
- Present a review (summary) of the information regarding your topic.
or
- Prepare a biography of a prominent researcher/theorist in the discipline of psychology.
- Include a life history, including education and how their life experiences influenced their contribution to the discipline of psychology.
- Include the researcher/theorist’s major contribution(s) to the field of psychology.
or
- Choose a psychological disorder to prepare a report about.
- Include the symptoms of the disorder.
- Include the causes and risk factors of the disorder.
- Include the treatment of the disorder.
- Include any new developments in research regarding the disorder
or
- Choose a psychological perspective
- Explain the perspective in depth
- Include the major theorists
- Include the theories associated with the perspective.
- Include the history of how the perspective developed.
Please submit an outline of your group’s presentation to the instructor by August 30 through the Literature Review Collaborative Project Discussion
- The outline should include each group member’s name and a brief statement regarding his or her section of the presentation.
- Each member of the group must present an equal portion of the project.
- The entire presentation should be about 20 minutes of reading/viewing in length (about 5 minutes of course material, using visual media in Google Docs (Power Points or video), by each member of the group).
