Library faculty are teachers, too!

Librarians are faculty and we are here to help you succeed! We work with students one-on-one, as well as in the classroom, on the art of research. In addition, we help students navigate their way through a complex set of library resources, online systems, and services outlined on the library website:

  • 50+ research databases; thousands of print books, ebooks, and DVDs
  • Off-campus, remote access to articles & ebooks
  • Ability to request & renew books online
  • On-demand research help and research appointments
  • Study rooms
  • Textbooks for loan (reserves)
  • Classes: LIBR 318 (1 unit) and LIBR 325 (3 units)

I hate to resort to a commercial, but...

Getting Started

Know your assignment:

  • What is your topic
  • Do you need to choose or narrow your topic?
  • What is the length of your project?
  • How many are sources are required?
  • Is a certain type(s) of source required (books, peer-reviewed articles, popular articles, websites)?
  • Do you need to create a Works Cited list?
  • What style guide does your instructor want you to use (MLA, APA, Chicago, etc.)?
  • What do you already know about your topic?
  • What sort of background reading should you do to become better informed before you try to track down your sources?
