Students will be working on a group speech in which they will research and present about a local organization. They will be required to cite 2 peer-reviewed scholarly articles and will need the most help finding these.
This is your first research based speech. In groups of 3, you will choose a community organization which serves the greater Sacramento area. This should be an organization that is of interest to your group, but also one that would be interesting for your audience.
15-18 minutes (or 5-6 minutes per speaker, 10 second buffer on each end)
Develop and present 2-5 main points which cover the following information
What the organization does
Who started the organization and why
Where the organization is located
Why organizations such as this are important in our communities
How people can become involved with or help the organization reach their goals
Any other information your group thinks would be important to include
Include an introduction covering the 5 objectives of intros
Include a conclusion covering the 3 objectives of conclusions
Include clear transitions from section-to-section and between main points, and from speaker-to-speaker
Submit one formal, full-sentence outline per group (use the outline template found in the Files section of Canvas)

A minimum of 6 sources should be cited in APA format in-text and in a reference page attached to your outline
Sources should be orally cited regularly throughout the presentation
At least 2 of your sources must be scholarly, peer-reviewed journal articles
One source must be an interview from someone who works for the organization. The interview can be done in person, over the phone, or through email.
A multimedia visual aid (Prezi, Google Docs) is required.
A minimum of 1 chart/graph and 1 picture should be included
