ENGWR 300 (Agee) - Use UC Davis

Use Shields Library

Things you can do at Shields:

Shields Library

Check out books

For $12.50/UC quarter (about 3 months), you can check out up to 5 books at a time. To register, bring your Los Rios Student ID card and a printout of your current schedule to the Shields Library Information Desk.

Use databases and e-journals

Some of the computers in Shields require no student login to use (look for the ones with the red "Public" label). Use these to access UCD databases. You'll be able to email articles to yourself if the database allows that. Otherwise, you can print articles (no saving to flash drives, unfortunately).

Find articles that were abstract-only in Los Rios databases

If you find an article in an SCC database, or elsewhere online, that isn't available full-text, check the UC Davis catalog to see if they have the journal it's from in print or online. (Or ask a librarian to do that for you.) The odds are good that it will be available.

Get help from librarians

UC Davis reference librarians know shortcuts to the best resources at UCD. You do not have to be a UCD student to ask them for help, so do it!

Getting There

The Unitrans V Line stops in front of the Davis Center every 30 minutes and will take you to the UC Davis Silo, very close to Shields Library. This bus line is free.
